The following customer success stories highlight the Fresno Area Workforce Investment Corporation's efforts in helping to prepare a workforce qualified to meet the needs of Fresno County businesses.

Frank Gonzalez
Frank Gonzalez had been on aid for two years, a short time compared to most clients at the Workforce Connection Office in Kerman. He was given an assessment to determine his skills and it was discovered that he had a strong aptitude for office administration. He was given the opportunity to attend vocational training at Fresno City College to obtain his certificate in office administration. Frank completed the course with an overall grade point average of 4.0.

After he earned his certificate, Frank was further assisted to acquire a full time position at Saint Agnes Hospital, with an above-average wage. Since then, his wife has been motivated to further her employment opportunities by enrolling, through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds, into San Joaquin Valley College. She aspires to become a dental assistant.

The case manager who assisted Frank is very pleased with his accomplishments. "It is good to see individuals use these programs provided to them as a stepping stone to life's success. We were able to give the utmost service to Frank, shattering all the employment barriers that he once had and provide him with the opportunity to seek a better future."
